12 Oct Scottish Veterans Awards sets the standard
Joint Force Alba were delighted to attend the inaugural Scottish Veterans Awards in October 2021. Due to COVID19, the event had been delayed by 18 months and this was the second time it had been re-arranged.
The awards recognised Armed Forces Veterans achievements across the fields of business, community and sport. Finalists from all three services and from across Scotland came to Edinburgh to celebrate their achievements.
The evening started with fabulous music from the Army School of Bagpipe Music & Highland Drumming and guests were able to meet with Cpl Cruachan IV, the Regimental Mascot from the Royal Regiment of Scotland. Alongside the prize giving, the event also raised money for ABF, the Soldiers Charity through a raffle and auction.
Joint Force Alba was one of the sponsors of the awards and were delighted to present the Community Award to Marc Hutton for his achievements with the Edinburgh Veterans Walking Group, particularly in how he has ensured this group becomes a safe space for Veterans to support their mental health.
The next Veterans awards is likely to be held in April 2022 with nominations opening towards the end of 2021. So if you know a Veteran who has achieved exceptional things since they left the Armed Forces, consider nominating them for an award.
